Find out what actually makes you reach for it
A trigger is the situation that reliably precedes vaping — a commute, a deadline, a drink, a particular person, a particular feeling. Puff Zero lets you attach that context to each puff you log, then shows you which situations account for most of your use. Knowing that is what turns a vague intention to cut down into a specific thing to change.
Why triggers matter more than willpower
Habits attach themselves to cues. Most vaping is not a decision so much as a response to a recurring situation, which is why resolving to want it less rarely survives contact with the situation itself.
Once you can name the two or three contexts driving most of your use, you have something you can plan around — change the situation, change what you do in it, or prepare for it specifically.
How trigger tracking works
When you log a puff you can tag what was going on and how you felt. It is optional every time, and skipping it costs you nothing but detail.
The app groups those tags and shows which contexts and moods recur most, alongside the times of day they cluster around.
Patterns tend to become visible within a week or two of reasonably consistent logging — enough occurrences for a shape to emerge.
Turning a pattern into a plan
A trigger you can name is a trigger you can prepare for. If most of your use sits in one recurring situation, that is where a limit change or a substitute behaviour will do the most work — and where Puffy is most useful to talk to beforehand.
What Puff Zero doesn't do
- Trigger data is self-reported and only as complete as your tagging.
- The app surfaces correlations in your own logs. It does not establish why you vape, and it is not a psychological assessment.
- Recognising a trigger does not by itself resolve it. It tells you where to aim.
Frequently asked questions
- What counts as a vaping trigger?
- Any situation that reliably precedes vaping — a time of day, a place, an activity, a social setting, or an emotional state such as stress or boredom.
- How long before patterns show up?
- Usually one to two weeks of reasonably consistent logging, which is roughly what it takes for recurring situations to occur often enough to stand out.
- Do I have to tag every puff?
- No. Tagging is optional on every log. More context produces a clearer picture, but partial data still shows the dominant patterns.
